Photo: Kevin Mazur/Getty Images for AG Ariana Grande fans recently grew concerned over some tears the singer shed during a concert in St. Louis this weekend, part of her ongoing “Sweetener World Tour.” In footage recorded by an audience member, the pop star can be seen appearing to become emotional during a rendition of “R.E.M.,” a song almost certainly written about her ex Pete Davidson. The couple ended their whirlwind romance and engagement in October.
On Sunday, Grande posted a letter on Twitter and Instagram responding to fans’ engagement with the video. The message, which has since been deleted, reads in part : “tour is wild. life is wild….i’m grateful for the sea of love I have around me everyday and for the people who come to these shows and give us every ounce of energy they’ve got….i’m grateful for the opportunity to sing to thousands of people every night. it’s a dream come true. no matter how hard it gets or how many feelings come up that are screaming at me to be processed and sorted through one day, i’m grounded by gratitude and promise not to give up on what i’ve started.
She added that she “feel[s] everything very intensely” and has “committed to doing this tour during a time in my life when I’m still processing a lot…sometimes I cry a lot! I thank you for accepting my humanness.” Grande included a reciprocal note of support for her fans, writing, “i’m sharing this because i’m grateful and because i want you to know that if you too are hurting, you can push through and are not alone.”
