Toronto Argonauts beat the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 30-28 as Chad Kelly threw two touchdown passes and a late field goal sealed a fourth straight CFL victory.
The Toronto Argonauts defeated the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 30-28 on Friday, Sept. 25, 2026, in Winnipeg, extending their CFL win streak to four games on a 36-yard field goal with 27 seconds remaining. Chad Kelly completed 22 of 31 passes for 290 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions as Toronto improved to 9-6.
Argonauts Build Lead Through Kelly
Kelly upheld his reputation as a gunslinger by throwing touchdown passes of 56 yards to Tyler Kahmann and 84 yards to Damonte Coxie. His long pass to Coxie tied the game after a convert, and Kahmann's 56-yard score kept Toronto within reach at halftime.
Winnipeg led 14-7 after the first quarter and 21-14 at halftime. The game was tied 21-21 entering the fourth quarter.
The Argonauts went ahead for the first time with a 19-yard field goal by Hajrullahu 3:12 into the fourth quarter, making it 24-21.
Grant Return Highlights Special Teams
Winnipeg's Castillo missed field-goal attempts from 45 and 55 yards. The 45-yard wide kick proved costly when Janarion Grant returned the ball for a touchdown four minutes into the first quarter.
It was the fourth-longest missed field-goal return in CFL history. The longest was 130 yards by Ken Hinton of the B.C. Lions in 1977. Two players had 129-yard touchdown returns, including Tristan Jackson with Saskatchewan in 2012.
Toronto's Grant later took a Winnipeg punt and threw a lateral to Dave Ungerer, who gained 32 yards. That play helped set up the winning field goal as Toronto got the ball back and marched into range.
Bombers Rely on Brown and Oliveira
Dru Brown, making his fifth start of the season in place of injured Zach Collaros, was 16-of-28 passing for 193 yards with two touchdown passes and two interceptions. He also ran in a six-yard touchdown.
Brady Oliveira finished with 139 yards rushing on 18 carries for Winnipeg, including 79 yards in the first quarter. Winnipeg responded in the fourth quarter with a four-play, 69-yard drive capped by White's 22-yard touchdown catch, aided by a 25-yard run from Oliveira.
Castillo made three converts, while Hajrullahu went wide on a 52-yard field-goal try, made a pair from 19 and 34 yards, and was good on three converts.
Late Drive Seals Toronto Victory
Kelly used a 38-yard pass to Coxie and a Winnipeg pass-interference penalty to march the Argonauts down the field, but settled for a 34-yard field goal from Hajrullahu to make it 28-27 with 2:38 remaining.
Winnipeg had turned a third-down, one-yard push into a 76-yard touchdown run at 8:50 of the fourth quarter that put the home side up 28-24.
Interceptions made fans' heads turn early in the third. Brown was picked off by Alex Teubner, then a Kelly pass was grabbed by Vaval in the end zone. A Winnipeg unnecessary roughness penalty wiped that out, but Toronto's reprieve was short-lived when Evan Holm intercepted Kelly in the end zone.
Kelly's penchant for the long pass went awry early in the second when the ball bounced off the hands of intended receiver Kevin Mital and into the gloves of a Bombers defensive back. Kelly returned to the field and tossed the 56-yard touchdown to Kahmann.
After being sacked to open the second half, Kelly heaved a long pass to Coxie, whose catch-and-run went 84 yards for the touchdown and tied the game after Hajrullahu's convert. Toronto then sealed the result with the late field goal.
