Protesters converged on downtown Buenos Aires on Monday as Argentina 's lower house began to debate a dramatically downsized version of President Javier Milei 's economic overhaul bill. In his drive to reach zero deficit, Milei is slashing spending across Argentina — shuttering ministries, defunding cultural centers, laying off state workers and cutting subsidies.
