Panda Hub’s co-founder Abdullah Sharief, who oversaw the research project, said “while we had our suspicions that self-serve vacuums were dirty, we didn’t expect such a high amount of bacteria to be present on the majority of them. However, self-serve stations very rarely have antibacterial/sanitizing supplies available, and with constant use in so many cars, it makes perfect sense.”
I suppose it makes sense if you accept that automobiles, which we blame for maiming the environment and carnage on our roads, are also germ factories, but it’s hardly a soothing thought.
