Much of British Columbia is experiencing a thaw towards seasonal temperatures, though arctic outflow warnings remain in effect for certain areas of the province. Environment Canada reports that an arctic air mass is generating strong winds through the Whistler Valley, resulting in wind chill values approaching -20 C. Meanwhile, snow persists in Metro Vancouver, where temperatures remain below freezing.
Inland regions of the North Coast, including Terrace and Kitimat, are also under the same Arctic outflow warning. The weather office predicts that winds will gradually lessen by Friday. An extreme cold warning is also active for Yoho and Kootenay National Parks in southeastern British Columbia. Environment Canada anticipates wind chill values near -35 C before temperatures begin to moderate on Sunday. As of Thursday morning, the Village of Clinton, situated approximately 40 km northwest of Cache Creek, recorded the coldest temperature in the province at -34 C.
