Multiple people were injured Wednesday morning during a shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder in Barrow County, according to Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith. One person has also been taken into custody.Law enforcement is scheduled to give an update at 4 p.m. FOX 5 Atlanta will livestream the press conference.The Barrow County Sheriff's Office told FOX 5 Atlanta that multiple law enforcement agencies and emergency responders responded to reports of an active shooter around 10:30 a.m.
The FBI and Georgia Bureau of Investigation have confirmed they responded to the shooting and will be involved in the investigation.No other information was released about the victims or the person placed under arrest. The conditions of the victims are unknown at this point. It is also unknown exactly how many people were injured.Sheriff Smith asked during a brief statement during a news conference that it will take multiple days for them to get answers about what happened and why it happened.
