We chat with TheWitcher stars Anya Chalotra, Freya Allan & Joey Batey about season 3's evolving family dynamics and blossoming romances:

The Witcher season 3, part 1 has already made a splash on Netflix series, given that it marks the end of Henry Cavill's run as Geralt of Rivia. The popular fantasy series is inspired by Andrzej Sapkowski's stories, although several elements of the Netflix adaptation can be found in the now-classic videogame The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Much like the game, Geralt may be the titular character, but Yennefer and Ciri are equally important to the story.

Anya Chalotra: I think it is because of Ciri. It allows them to, I suppose, not be so cluttered with each other and see their connection for what it is, which is something I think they've overthought when actually it's because they're focused on Ciri so much and the bigger picture. They realize that whatever they have between them is real, and they're drawn to each other.

Jaskier is having a great time this season, and I love seeing his softer side. Can you tell me what he thinks about Radovid? What is going on there? How does that blossom? Anya, what can you say about the evolution of the brotherhood and all of the divided loyalties? Between discussions on what to do with Nilfgaard and what to do with Ciri, how are you ladies feeling in that situation?

Freya, there are points where Ciri is like, "You know what? I'm going to call Dad. Mom is just not cutting it right now.”
