Community starts JustGiving page 'to help the Steele family through this tough time'
The Antiville bonfire is tonight being pulled down in the wake of a tragedy that claimed the life of John Steele.
An MEA source told Belfast Live that “following last night’s tragedy in Larne, the community has requested that Council assist with the removal of bonfire material from the site today”.The source added: “Contractors have been employed to carry out this work on behalf of Council. Council regularly works with the relevant statutory stakeholders and the community in relation to bonfires.
Later on Sunday night, the remains of the bonfire was set alight during a vigil held in Mr Steele's memory In a Facebook post, they said: “We have a link to a justgiving page to help the Steele family through this tough time. We would appreciate any donation no matter how small you may think it is it will go a very long way.Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Alderman Noel Williams, expressed his “deep sympathy” and extended his condolences following the death.
