The figurine, which is about 2.4 inches long, was made about 8,500 years ago.
Çatalhöyük, Turkey, was a large settlement that was continuously occupied for over 1,000 years, between 7100 and 5900 B.C. At its peak, it is estimated to have been home to up to 8,000 people, according to UNESCO.

Pawłowska said where it was found—in a food storage room—is important."It is difficult to reconstruct the reason an artifact was made by people in the past," she said."However, we can shed light on the context of its finding and try to suggest the purpose of its uses."
