Swearing-in ceremony for recently appointed chief Jeff Skye held in Sault Ste. Marie Thursday
Jeff Skye was officially sworn in as chief of Anishinabek Police Service during a ceremony in Sault Ste. Marie Thursday.
Skye, a member of Eagle Lake First Nation with 29 years of policing experience under his belt, took on the role of chief Aug. 2. The recently appointed chief stepped down from his role as deputy chief of Treaty Three Police Service in mid-July after spending seven years with the service. Skye previously worked for Anishinabek Police Service as an inspector prior to returning to his home territory to serve as deputy chief for Treaty Three Police Service, which serves 23 communities in northwestern Ontario.
According to the Treaty Three Police Service website, Skye is a recipient of the Governor General of Canada Order of Merit Award and a Distinguished Services Award from the First Nations Chiefs of Police Association.
