Andrew Shaw worked hard to get back in shape after a pair of injuries last March. His perseverance has been recognized by Montreal media. (EricEngels )
muses about it being a good thing he injured his knee last season because it ensured he wouldn’t rush back too soon from a concussion.
“I wasn’t supposed to be ready for the start of the season but I kept telling myself I was going to do everything in my power to make sure I was in that opening lineup,” Shaw said Wednesday. “If it was going to rehab five days a week for two to three hours a day and doing everything I needed to do — doctor’s appointment after doctor’s appointment — I just gave myself the best-case scenario to make sure I was back for that first game.
Shaw said not being able to walk for over two months was one of his toughest challenges. He credits his wife, Chaunette, for her help through the difficult moments.
