Four-time Grey Cup champion Andrew Harris has transitioned from player to coach, joining the Saskatchewan Roughriders as their new running backs coach. Harris, a CFL legend known for his exceptional running skills and numerous accolades, brings his wealth of experience and knowledge to the team.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced on Monday that four-time Grey Cup champion Andrew Harris has joined the organization as the new running backs coach . Harris spent 15 seasons in the Canadian Football League ( CFL ), playing for the BC Lions (2009-15), Winnipeg Blue Bombers (2016-21), and the Toronto Argonauts (2022-23). The former running back holds the distinction of being the CFL 's all-time leading Canadian rusher, a record he achieved in 2019.
He concluded his illustrious career with an impressive 10,380 rushing yards and 51 touchdowns, along with 607 receptions for 5,489 yards and 32 touchdowns.Harris's accolades throughout his playing career are numerous. He was recognized as the league's Most Outstanding Canadian in 2017 and earned the Grey Cup's Most Outstanding Canadian award in both 2011 and 2019. His standout performance in the 2019 Grey Cup earned him the title of Most Outstanding Player (MOP). He was a five-time All-CFL selection and a six-time West Division All-CFL honoree. Before joining the Roughriders, Harris held the position of director of football operations for the Canadian Junior Football League's Vancouver Island Raiders.The Roughriders confirmed that Harris replaces former running backs coach Anthony Vitale, who will be unable to return to the team due to personal reasons
