The 4,500-square-foot, two-storey house, located in a residential area of Victoria and expected to be completed by spring, will offer temporary housing for women at risk of homelessness

Women at risk of homelessness due to poverty, violence or health issues will soon get a temporary home with a family atmosphere, as the Anawim Companions Society prepares to open the doors to a purpose-built Women’s House in Victoria next spring.

The total cost of the project, scheduled for completion in spring 2023, is expected to be more than $2 million. Residents are expected to participate in the functions of the home, learning valuable life skills they can take with them after their stay. “We find that this family model approach improves residents chances of making connections and building trust,” said Greco. “It has successfully helped hundreds of residents of the Men’s House since 1991.”
