Maple Leafs storm back, shock Lightning in overtime

“Morgan, of all of our players, has been here the longest and has a great appreciation for how difficult it is to win at this time of the year and wants to win more than anybody,” Leafs coach Sheldon Keefe said prior to the game. “You just see that the urgency and the level that he plays at. He’s found ways to contribute offensively, which is a big part of who he is and what he does for us.
Samsonov was the best Leaf, facing 12 shots and stopping Brandon Hagel on a penalty shot. The Leafs were on the power play at the time and Hagel was tripped by Rielly in the neutral zone, another sign of how easily the Lightning were getting their way in the first period.It was clear that Keefe needed to make changes, and after playing his top line for a couple of shifts he did. He had hinted as much at the morning skate.
