New vineyard buyers, including California wine experts from Napa Valley, are putting down roots in the sandy soil and hilly terrain around Michigan’s Grand Traverse Bay.At the same time, luxury house hunters from as far away as Texas and New York are buying into the area’s four distinct seasons, private beaches and expanding wine-tasting scene.Home prices are up all over the U.S.
Three Trees Vineyard is a 41-acre vineyard in expecting their first effort to hit the market in 2023.On Old Mission Peninsula, just east of Leelanau County, Mari Vineyards grows its own grapes.They also operate an upscale tasting room and host wine tastings in their underground barrel caves.The winemaking facilities and tasting room of Leelanau’s Brengman Brothers become scenic signposts on the area’s cross-country ski trails in the off-season.
