Two accused teenagers to remain in custody for at least two more weeks | SaltWire #newsupdate #newsAMHERST, N.S. — A 29-year-old Amherst, N.S., man has been charged with breaking into a local business and stealing e-bikes in late March.
Around 4:40 a.m. on March 25, the Amherst Police Department responded to a commercial burglary alarm on Church Street and arrived to find someone had broken the front door’s glass to gain entry and make off with “high-valued electric bicycles.”On March 30, police obtained an arrest warrant for Michael Douglas Richard who was arrested on Wednesday, Apri 24.
He is charged with break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence, possession of stolen property for the purpose of trafficking, mischief under $5,000 and two counts of theft under $5,000. Richard was remanded into custody and is set to appear in Amherst provincial court again on April 29.
With help from the New Brunswick RCMP in a separate police operation, the bikes were recovered and have been returned to the Amherst business.
