Ontario and British Columbia are removing American alcohol from their liquor store shelves in retaliation against US tariffs on Canadian goods. Premier Doug Ford of Ontario announced the ban on American wine, beer, spirits, and seltzers, while Premier David Eby of British Columbia ordered the immediate removal of American liquor from 'red states' from their stores. This move escalates the trade dispute between Canada and the US, sparked by President Trump's executive order imposing 25 percent tariffs on Canadian goods starting Tuesday.

American alcohol will disappear from liquor store shelves in Ontario and B.C. as the provinces add their own ammunition to a federal plan aimed at getting the U.S. to back down from tariffs.

"There’s never been a better time to choose an amazing Ontario-made or Canadian-made product," Ford said in a statement. The moves position alcohol as a key battleground in the trade feud that intensified Saturday when Trump signed an executive order applying 25 per cent tariffs on Canada goods starting Tuesday. He carved out an exception for Canadian energy, which will see a lower 10 per cent duty.
