Sgt. Ann Mathieu of the Sureté du Québec confirmed the discovery of the bodies and said the hunt continues for the father. Police ask anyone with information in the case to call 911. TheyMartin Carpentier was last seen wearing a grey T-shirt, jeans and might be wearing glasses. He is 5-foot-10 and weighs 130 pounds.
Earlier Saturday morning, police located miscellaneous items in a forested area that could potentially be linked to the two young girls and their father. ButAdvertisementOn Thursday, an Amber Alert was issued at 3 p.m. in an attempt to locate the girls and their father, who police say likely abducted them in Lévis. Police believe girls and their father were involved in a car crash on Highway 20 near St-Apollinaire and left the scene on foot.
On Friday, police and rescue workers searched a wooded area of more than 150 kilometres, with a Canadian military helicopter supporting the aerial search. Martin Carpentier’s girlfriend made a public plea on social media to her boyfriend on Friday, asking him to give his family a sign of life. In a video released by the Quebec provincial police, a tearful Cathy Gingras said: “Martin, we’re worried. We haven’t heard from you since the accident. We’re wondering if you’re okay, the girls, Romy, Norah. Give us some news, give us a sign, call your parents, anything. What’s important is that you’re okay, we don’t care about anything else. We just want to know you’re okay.”
