Trudeau said the airport in Kabul is now controlled by U.S. forces allowing the resumption of flights, but it will be hard for many people Canada wants to help…

Trudeau said the international community is pressuring the Taliban to let people move freely to the airport, but it is unclear if they will do so. Canada has closed its embassy and all diplomatic staff are now out of the country, but many people who worked with Canada over the years are stranded.

American and other international forces have taken control over the airport in recent days, ending the scenes of chaos seen earlier in the week where refugees flooded the airport runways and some grabbed onto the exterior of planes taking off only to fall to their deaths. Afghanistan is now completely under Taliban control after the terrorist group defeated Afghan National Army forces in the last few weeks and seized control over all major cities including Kabul.

Trudeau’s government has faced calls for weeks to help get translators and other Afghans who worked with Canadian forces or with the embassy out of the country, because they face persecution from the Taliban for having worked with Canada.
