Lee's impacts to be felt as the storm tracks into Atlantic Canada this weekend | SaltWireThe track of Lee remained consistent throughout Thursday and Friday, but the timing has sped up. It’s expected Lee will lose its category one hurricane status upon approach and become post-tropical, with landfall expected in Yarmouth County on Saturday afternoon. While Lee will be post-tropical, winds will be equivalent to a strong tropical storm.
Newfoundland and Labrador can expect periods of rain beginning later Saturday and continuing Sunday with winds also increasing during that time. Periods of rain will spread northward across Newfoundland later Saturday and will stick around until late Sunday, when it’s expected the rain will become scattered. There will be embedded downpours and a risk of thunderstorms within this rain, but the greatest chance for significant rainfall will be near the centre of Lee in western Nova Scotia and from southwest to northeastern New Brunswick, where 50 to 100-plus mm of rain is forecast.
