Clear Creek ISD student Holly Ornelas, third from the left, and Sebastian Brown of League City, at right in the foreground, are performing in “A Christmas Carol” through Dec. 30 at the Alley Theatre in Houston. The festive party at the Fezziwigs is the favorite scene for two young Bay Area thespians who are performing in “A Christmas Carol” through Dec. 30 at the Alley Theatre in Houston.
The tragic ghost of Scrooge’s late business partner, Jacob Marley, as well as new interpretations of the Ghost of Christmas Present and the Ghost of Christmas Future also appear in the Alley’s premiere production of a script by the theater’s artistic director, Rob Melrose, who also directed his adaptation of the classic 1843 novella by Charles Dickens.
The young actress said, “First, in 2020, my family watched the Alley Theatre’s virtual ‘Christmas Carol,’” which was a modest adaptation by Doris Baizley that received a full production at the Alley last year. Sebastian learned about the auditions from a thespian, Aprille Meek, who had directed him in two plays at Clear Creek Community Theatre — “Frankenstein” and “The Merry Wives of Windsor.”
