Allen Community Band performs free Christmas concerts
All are welcome to the free concerts, which will be held on consecutive Sunday afternoons in December.The Allen Community Band celebrates their 10th anniversary with a free Christmas concert at 3 p.m. Dec. 11 at the Lowery Auditorium, 368 N. Greenville Ave.
The band used to play at the Lowery Freshman Center but outgrew the space as the “band got too big for the stage,” according to clarinet player Jim Hoffheins. The next week, the ACB Jazz Band will perform a free Christmas concert at 3 p.m. Dec. 18 at the Allen Public Library Auditorium, 300 N. Allen Drive.
The Allen Community Band “provides musicians from the city of Allen and surrounding areas the opportunity to perform a variety of music, while growing their skills as individual musicians and as an ensemble,” according to its. “Membership is open to all adults who have experience playing in a band. We accept all instruments and skill levels. No auditions are required.”
The Allen Community Band was established in 2013 as a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization. The band is funded through donations,
