The Ig Nobel Prizes celebrate achievements that make people laugh, then think. A look at real science that’s hard to take seriously, and even harder to ignore.In 1998, the Ig Nobel Prize in medicine went to Patient Y and his doctors at Royal Gwent Hospital in the U.K. for their cautionary medical report: “A Man Who Pricked His Finger and Smelled Putrid for 5 Years.”There are thousands of exercises and you’ve only got one body, but that doesn’t mean you can’t try them all: Air swimming.

Inhale for four seconds, exhale for four and repeat both again for a total of 16 seconds. Do three sets, resting up to one minute between each.Butter is not a good treatment for burns. For a minor burn, the best immediate remedy is running cold water over it to dispel heat under the skin. Using ice isn’t advised — too cold. Keeping the skin clean is also key, so use sterile bandages.
