Both students returned with medals — one gold, one bronze — from international event
The students recently participated in the AI Summer Games in Stuttgart, Germany, winning gold and bronze medals in the process.“Participating in the International AI Summer Camp was a transformative experience," said Dr. Mahreen Nasir, assistant professor in Algoma's School of Computer Science and Technology. "It deepened our students’ understanding of AI and provided a unique platform for international collaboration and cultural exchange.
“The hands-on curriculum covered machine learning, neural networks, and AI ethics, with workshops and projects allowing us to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world problems, enhancing our learning experience and preparing for future AI challenges. The diverse environment provided rewarding interactions with peers and professionals from various countries, broadening our perspectives. We exchanged ideas and shared cultures making it a truly unique learning journey.
The event, hosted by the HdM Stuttgart University, showcased the innovative capabilities and future applications of Artificial Intelligence. Students received intensive training in deep learning and data exploration, collaborated with international teams, and participated in social activities. The program included an online phase in June and a week-long in-person phase with lectures, hands-on labs, and guest speakers, featuring team-building exercises, AI challenges, and discussions on AI security and trends.
