A permit allowed for one lane of Bay Street to be closed during the month-long loading at Purvis Marine, directly adjacent to the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre
Over the past month, Algoma Steel Inc. has been loading on barges at Purvis Marine, with finished product intended for the company's customers, mostly situated along the Great Lakes. That loading made it necessary at times for the right lane of Bay Street to be closed to traffic.Stenta said the company has loaded product at Purvis Marina in years past, necessitated by the seasonal closure of the Soo Locks.
The Road Occupancy permit allowed the loading from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. from Feb. 13 to March 13, and an extension was granted until March 17.
