Ministry of Labour continues to investigate Thursday's tragedy, which claimed the life of a contract worker from GFL Environmental Inc. who was cleaning an out-of-service gas line
Algoma Steel is reminding employees and retirees that today’s “Family Day” festivities have been cancelled in light of a fatality at the plant this week.
An annual tradition, the summer party is a chance for families to tour the factory, check out exhibits and enjoy a barbecue lunch. Brenda Stenta, Algoma Steel’s communications manager, says this year’s event will be rescheduled at a later date. “Due to the short notice, we are unable to reach all of our retirees who were invited to attend the event,” she wrote in an email to SooToday. “Many of them are not regular users of email or social media. We are hoping you can assist us in getting the word out about the event being postponed.”
