Local theatre troupe staging Neil Simon comedy May 29 to June 1 at Quattro Hotel
Algoma Repertory Theatre will be staging Neil Simon’s longest running Broadway play Barefoot in the Park from May 29 to June 1 at Quattro Hotel and Conference Centre.
The play, which Life Magazine dubbed “one of the funniest comedies ever,” tells the story of newlyweds Corie and Paul Bratter who are starting their new life together in their Manhattan apartment, A.R.T. said in a news release. "Paul, a strait-laced lawyer and Corie, a free-spirited romantic, are wild about each other even though they’re complete opposites. When Corie hatches a plan to set up her conservative widowed mother with her eccentric neighbour, a wild night that highlights just how different Corie and Paul are is set in motion."
A.R.T. said Barefoot in the Park, directed by Marc Beaudette is "both a hilarious, sunny, and touching exploration of love and learning to love an imperfect person perfectly". The cast includes Jarrett Mills , Megan Wigmore as Paul and Corie Bratter, the young newlyweds and is rounded out by Donna Hilsinger as Corrie’s conservative mother, John Howes in the role of Harry Pepper, the telephone repairman and Marc Beaudette as the eccentric neighbour, Victor Velasco.Show-Only: $40Penne and Homemade Red SauceDoors open: 5:30 p.m.Tickets are available now and can be purchased online at www.artinssm.com or call 705-943-9519.
