Alex Jafre is running for seat P in the Alaska State Senate.

He said he is running because he felt he could not, in good conscience, vote for either of the other candidates. “I’d hope to institute conservative policies. I’d hope to ban abortion. I’d hope to end this drag queen storytime nonsense, and I’d hope to protect our 2nd Amendment rights from further infringement by the federal government,” he explained

Jafre said his main goal would be non-profit reform. “We need to have local control and state control over these organizations. We need to have the ability to do something when someone comes forward and says ‘Hey, wait a minute. Something’s wrong here,’ especially if they’re presenting evidence. It was wonderful for the borough assembly to give me a platform, and I thank them for that, but it’s not enough. We need to do something at the criminal level.

Specifically, he mentioned scandals involving the board of the Fairbanks Light Opera Theatre and the Catholic Diocese of Fairbanks. “We don’t seem to have anything being done whenever these scandals pop up. A fluff letter is used. It’s brushed under the table. No one seems to really care, and I find that very disheartening, and I think it’s a bipartisan issue. I think it doesn’t matter whether you’re a Republican or a Democrat.

Jafre is running against Jim Matherly and incumbent Scott Kawasaki in the primary election on August 16th.
