The Alejandro Kirk baby watch is over. The Blue Jays catcher, who hasn’t shown up at spring training in Dunedin while awaiting the birth of his first child with partner Sofia, posted a photo of his newborn on Instagram on Tuesday morning.

Kirk, 24, is the only Jays regular who hasn’t reported to camp, which means he likely won’t play for Mexico at next month’sThe Jays earlier dispatched a crew of coaches to help their all-star catcher prepare for the season and help with his timing. Bullpen coach Luis Hurtado and Jose Mayorga, manager of the Jays’ Florida Complex League team, went to California to work with Kirk, along with a couple of strength and conditioning coaches.
The 24-year-old hit .285 with a .372 on-base percentage last season, his first full year in the big leagues, and walked more often than he struck out .
