Alberta wildfires: Valleyview residents to return home abfires

Warm weather and winds in late April contributed to an earlier intense wildfire activity than normal to Alberta’s fire season, said Christie Tucker, information unit manager with Alberta Wildfire on Wednesday. “They are enjoying the warm weather that’s just started. They’re going camping. They’re going out recreationally into the woods and that is why we usually ensure that all of our resources are in place and ready to go for the May long weekend. That activity happened earlier this year and we certainly saw a lot more hot weather and the kinds of conditions that led to that extreme wildfire activity.
