Alberta Weather: Calgary to See Cooler Temperatures and Rain Transitioning to Snow Midweek
Calgary Weather, Alberta Forecast, Low-Pressure System

Calgary weather forecast: warmer Monday, then a low-pressure system brings cooler temperatures, rain transitioning to snow, and stronger winds by midweek.

Calgary and much of Alberta will experience a shift in weather this week as an incoming low-pressure system brings cooler temperatures, stronger winds, and precipitation that will transition from rain to snow. Monday will be similar to Sunday, with warmer temperatures, sunshine, and mild wind. However, by Monday night and Tuesday, stronger winds are expected in southwestern Alberta as the system approaches.

Calgary Weather: Midweek Cooldown and Precipitation

The low-pressure system will track west to east across central and southern British Columbia, bringing rain that will transition to snow. The bulk of the precipitation is expected to fall north of the TransCanada Highway along the Rockies. Most of the moisture will be squeezed out before the system descends along the eastern slopes, but a narrow band of precipitation is forecast to form south of the TransCanada Highway in Alberta, including in Calgary, on Tuesday night.

Cooler air will flow across Alberta on Wednesday and Thursday, suppressing temperatures. The daytime high in Calgary is expected to peak at 13 C both days, with lows closer to 3 C. The normal range this time of year is 16 C for a high and 2 C for a low.

Temperature Outlook and Seasonal Norms

Temperatures will return to more seasonal values by Friday and continue through to the middle of next week. This pattern is typical for the region as it transitions between seasons.

Residents should prepare for variable conditions, with warmer weather on Monday giving way to cooler and wetter conditions by midweek. The precipitation band expected south of the TransCanada Highway could impact travel and outdoor activities, particularly on Tuesday night and Wednesday.

The low-pressure system's track will determine the exact amount of rain and snow, but current forecasts suggest that most of the moisture will remain north of the TransCanada Highway. Calgary may see limited precipitation, but the cooler air will be noticeable.

For the latest updates, check local forecasts and be prepared for changing weather conditions throughout the week.
