The United Conservative Party has turfed one of its Calgary candidates over his financial contribution to a former party leadership contender
Jason Kenney's United Conservative Party turfed Calgary candidate Randy Kerr after it was learned that he was 'not forthright' in responding to party inquiries regarding his financial contribution to the Jeff Callaway leadership campaign.The United Conservative Party has turfed out one of its Calgary candidates over his financial contribution to a former party leadership contender.
UCP executive director Janice Harrington says Randy Kerr is no longer the party’s nominee for the Calgary-Beddington constituency. Harrington says that Kerr was dismissed after it was learned that he was “not forthright” in responding to party inquiries regarding his financial contribution to the Jeff Callaway leadership campaign.Callaway lost that race to UCP leader Jason Kenney and Elections Alberta has since levied fines and is investigating whether money to the Callaway campaign came from illegitimate sources.
Harrington says the party has passed the matter on to Elections Alberta, and stressed they are not passing judgment on Kerr’s contribution to Callaway. The party says Josephine Pon, who finished second to Kerr in the Calgary-Beddington nomination race, will be the new UCP candidate.
