“The allegations of historic misconduct of members in Prince George are disturbing and our government takes these allegations very seriously,” Farnworth said. “Prior to announcing the investigation, the director of police services undertook direct conversations with family members who have called for reforms and to the Assembly of First Nations Regional Chief to inform them of his decision.”Article content
The RCMP’s Civilian Review and Complaints Commission concluded in a 2021 report, recently made public, that B.C. RCMP brass ignored the allegations two decades ago that Prince George officers sexually and violently abused First Nations girls for over a decade.The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team is similar to the B.C. Office of the Police Complaint Commissioner in that it investigates cases involving police officers in which citizens have been killed or seriously hurt.
