Cold Lake has hired help to trap skunks and relocate them where they can't cause a stink for residents.
A shunk is shown at the animal rehabilitation facility in Seaforth, N.S. Slavko Babincak was getting some strange looks while he was tooling around town one day and he couldn't figure out why. "And finally two guys asked, 'have you been sprayed by a skunk?' And I'm like, 'maybe?'" says the pest control professional in Cold Lake, Alta. THE CANADIAN PRESS/Darren Calabrese.
The eastern Alberta city — population 16,300 — has hired Babincak to trap the striped critters and relocate them where they can’t cause a stink for residents. An expectant mama skunk may also hole up beneath a deck or under a lumber pile if there’s nothing to deter her, like a dog. He’s dealt with two skunk calls so far this year: one he caught pretty easily while the other moved along on its own.
