The Alberni Valley Rescue Squad said a small army of volunteers helped reach an injured hiker on Wednesday, after cloud cover hampered a helicopter from getting to the area.
A ground search and rescue team was quickly deployed, as well as a helicopter and hoist/CDFL team, also known as a fixed line and helicopter winch rescue team. “Fortunately, AVRS had two strong and capable ground crews that were able to assess and treat the subject’s pain which enabled them to start a supported descent down the trail,” said AVRS.
