Alaska lawmakers have reached an agreement on a state budget that is now headed to the senate. The budget includes a Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) payout of $2,273, which would be the third highest payment in the state's history. However, there are concerns that the surplus could turn into a deficit due to additional expenses not yet included in the budget.

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - After lawmakers remained divided, they have agreed on a state budget that is headed to the senate. The final vote was 23-17. The current budget includes a PFD payout of $2,273 which would be the third highest payment the state has ever received.

“The concern is that when you add in all the things that we know, we’re going to have to put money towards this year, from a capital budget to address deferred maintenance and all the needs across the state as far as infrastructure to fiscal notes to fund things like the internet bill that we’ve heard so much about those items are not yet in the budget”, said House Minority Leader Rep. Calvin Schrage, I-Anchorage.
