FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska Department of Natural Resources, Division of Agriculture is accepting applications for the Food Security Cost Assistance for Livestock Producers program through Saturday, Dec. 31, 2022. Funds are available to help commercial livestock farmers in Alaska offset the recent high cost of animal feed.
To qualify farmers must operate a livestock farming business in the State of Alaska and be in good standing with the State. Eligible livestock includes cattle, sheep, goats, swine, poultry, reindeer, elk, bison, yak, and other animals raised for human consumption according to a State of Alaska press release.
Feed purchased from Aug. 1, 2022 to Nov. 30, 2022 is eligible, with the reimbursement rates determined after all applications are processed.Food Security Cost Assistance for Livestock Producers applicationThe Dunleavy administration plans to keep working with State agencies and legislators to provide additional financial support to feed producers, retailers and end users/consumers in support of food security for Alaskans.
