Severe weather will be possible across all of Alabama on Thursday.
The counties in the second watch are Autauga, Bibb, Blount, Chilton, Choctaw, Clarke, Dallas, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Lamar, Marengo, Marion, Monroe, Perry, Pickens, Shelby, St. Clair, Sumter, Tuscaloosa, Walker, Washington, Wilcox and Winston.
Storms were developing in parts of the state on Thursday afternoon, and the first tornado warning of the day was issued just after 2:30 p.m. for northwest Alabama. The National Weather Service will keep an especially close watch on western Alabama, which has the highest probability of seeing severe weather.Live updates:The watch for severe weather continues across Alabama. Other than the tornado warning for Lauderdale County , there are no other severe warnings in effect for the state. Rain and storms were moving across parts of west-central Alabama, but were not severe.
Two tornado watches remain in effect for parts of Alabama. One for much of north Alabama until 7 p.m. and another for parts of west, south and central Alabama until 8 p.m.A tornado warning continues until 3 p.m. for Lauderdale County. However, the National Weather Service has noted that the rotation on radar has broadened out, and forecasters have no plans to issue a downstream warning.The first tornado warning of the day has been issued.
