A north Alabama man is facing criminal charges after authorities claimed he contacted a 10-year-old girl on social media and got her to send a pornographic video of herself, according to court papers.

Nathan Powell, 29, of Florence, is facing one count of electronic solicitation of a child, according to the case filed against him Friday in Lauderdale County District Court. According to the complaint filed against Powell, the Florence man talked to the girl on Instagram and had her send him “a video that contained obscene matter containing visual depiction of herself while involved in obscene acts.”
Electronic solicitation of a child is a Class B felony, and Powell could receive a sentence between two and 15 years in state prison if convicted of the charge. If you purchase a product or register for an account through one of the links on our site, we may receive compensation.
