Malachi McNeil, a senior offensive lineman from Zion Chapel, has signed to play junior college football at North Dakota State College of Science. McNeil expressed his excitement to experience a new place outside of Alabama and the south.
The Zion Chapel senior offensive lineman, though, will soon have an opportunity after signing Monday to play junior college football at North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, North Dakota , located 45 minutes south of Fargo near the Minnesota- North Dakota border.
“I watched video of it before I even talked to the coach,” McNeil said of the rugby interest, which was the first recruitment he had. “It is pretty interesting, but I don’t think it is anything I want to do.”After being contacted by North Dakota State, McNeil did research on the school and team and had several zoom conversations with the coaches. He was impressed by what he saw.
“Their whole thing is, ‘You will come play with us, get your film, cut it and get you out playing somewhere else,’” McNeil said. “I want to continue my education somewhere else and play at a higher level of football past there.” He played both offensive and defensive line at Zion Chapel with most of his playing time on the OL at tackle.
“I love run blocking,” McNeil said. “It is my favorite thing to do. My passing blocking is OK -- and it is getting better all the time -- but I prefer to run block. There is something about hitting a guy . It is fun to me.”
