A Walker County Great Dane breeder has been arrested on animal cruelty charges, and 16 dogs were seized from the property. The charges come after dogs suffered from parvo and worms and weren't properly treated, records say.

The warrant states that on Feb. 7, Click failed to properly seek veterinarian care for three Great Dane puppies to prevent illness/disease or to treat illness/disease causing injuries to the dogs’ health, according to charging documents.The ordeal began in early February when Kimberlee King, a Cumberland Law School student, bought a $2,000 Great Dane puppy she named Apollo, for her 2-year-old son.
Apollo was started on plasma treatments and he and plight quickly gained sympathy and followers on social media, even getting hisOn Day 7 of Apollo being hospitalized – Feb. 11 - King wrote that his face remained swollen, and he was having to be fed through a syringe. Apollo, a Great Dane puppy, died this month from parvo, just weeks after a law school student bought him for her son. The breeder has been charged with animal cruelty. There were glimmers of hope, but Apollo died on Feb. 11. “I am beyond hurt and disappointed,’’ King wrote. “I tried everything I could possibly do to keep him alive. I will seek justice for Apollo and his litter.”
The ordeal caught the attention of Allison Black Cornelius, executive director of the Greater Birmingham Humane Society.
