The Alabama Department of Corrections has made another arrest as it cracks down on illegal contraband in its facilities.
ELMORE COUNTY, Ala. -
According to ADOC, on Saturday, April 27, at about 9:24 p.m., the Staton K9 team was alerted to a possible trespasser on the property. The team located and detained a suspect, identified as Keante Jamal Shipp. Tracking dogs were then sent out to backtrack Shipp’s steps, and multiple packages containing contraband were located wrapped in duct tape.
Court documents state that Shipp was found with 7.2 pounds of cannabis, 56 grams or more of synthetic cathinone , 30 cell phones, 24 charging cords, and 17 charging blocks. Shipp was arrested and transported to the Elmore County Jail and has been charged with trafficking marijuana, promoting prison contraband I & II, and criminal trespassing. Shipp’s bond is set at $3,036,000.
The ADOC Law Enforcement Services Division is still investigating, and further charges may be pending.Troy man arrested for conspiracy to commit murder
