AIs capable of transforming civilization will not have minds anything like ours. They won't have feelings or motives, only goals and unprecedented abilties to realize those goals.
So far, we have discovered no way to prevent them from pursuing goals in an unbounded way that would at least suspend humanity's control over its own future, or at worst destroy us completely.
