Air quality statement remains in effect for Calgary as wildfire smoke returns yyc
Calgary’s Air Quality Health Index was 8, or high risk, as of 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 15, 2023.Environment Canada advises that the general population should reschedule or reduce strenuous activities outdoors if experiencing coughing and throat irritation. At-risk populations, along with children and elderly people, are advised to take it easy and avoid strenuous activity.
The wind is expected to shift eastwards sometime Thursday afternoon, Fairweather said, though it could take some time for the smoke to blow out of the area.
