Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge will continue to operate as normal, airline says.
MONTREAL — Air Canada and the union representing its pilots have reached a tentative labour deal, averting a strike or lockout.
The airline said customers who used the labour disruption policy to change flights originally scheduled from between today and Sept. 23 can change their booking back to their original flight in the same cabin at no cost, providing there is space available. The terms of the new deal will remain confidential pending a ratification vote by the membership, expected to be completed over the next month.
ALPA Canada president Capt. Tim Perry issued a statement on Friday, asking the federal government to respect workers’ collective bargaining rights and refrain from intervening in the bargaining process. He said the government intervention violates the constitutional rights and freedoms of Canadians.
