AGA Reports Gaming Contributes $329B to U.S. Economy

The American Gaming Association has revealed that the gaming industry has had a distinct impact on the country's economy and job industry.

. The results, which marked the AGA’s first report on gaming’s national economic impact since 2018, generate $52.7 billion in annual tax revenue for federal, state, and local governments across America. The revenue allows government entities to fund services for education, infrastructure, and general funds.

“The U.S. gaming industry delivers long-term growth and impact to communities, generating significant tax revenue, creating strong jobs, supporting local small businesses, and funding critical community priorities,” said AGA president and CEO Bill Miller in a statement.The AGA’s research found that there are roughly 1.8 million gaming-supported jobs nationwide. Those opportunities have accumulated $104 billion of labor income, which includes salaries.

More than 700,000 jobs directly support the industry, including the nearly 600,000 employees at on-site casinos and corporate offices, while 23,000 employees work for gaming manufacturers.The AGA’s report follows record revenue in fiscal Q2 and growth for the sports betting market.The commercial gaming industry saw sports betting report the most significant growth in Q2 2023 with revenue reaching $2.3 billion — up 56.6% compared to the same period last year.

Table gaming was the only U.S. commercial gaming vertical to not report revenue growth in Q2.
