Houston fighter O’Shaquie Foster pulls off shocker over Rey Vargas in main event
Seconds after thumping his chest while being lifted up in triumph by his trainer — cheers from the crowd still thundering in their ears — Mario Barrios found Bob Santos in his face on the way back to the corner.That remains to be seen, of course. He started to find is rhythm by the third round when he uncorked a straight right that bloodied Santiago’s nose.
He landed 47 of 149 jabs to 8 of 142 for Santiago. He dominated in power punches, too, connecting on 88 of 182 37 of 190 for his opponent. Hoping to win a title in a third weight class, Vargas, 32, was outworked by a determined foe in Foster, who just six years ago spent four months in jail on an unlawful possession of a firearm charge.
