A pumper truck with four firefighters went there about 500 times in the first three months of 2022, but the problem is solved.
The daily parade of fire trucks arriving at a North York seniors building — about 500 times in the first three months of 2022 — has mercifully ended.
The calls prompted fire trucks to race to the building with lights flashing and sirens wailing, even though firefighters knew they were highly unlikely to encounter a legitimate emergency when they got there. In a Monday interview, Mayor John Tory said he was saddened and troubled by the situation, but stressed that he was not second-guessing Toronto Fire, which has a mandate to respond, no matter what it suspects.
