Condo association postpones board meeting after residents’ dust-up

Late Friday, the association sent out an email informing residents that instead of the originally scheduled Tuesday board meeting, the board would hold an “informational session.” The change means board members cannot do anything actionable at the meeting.

The condo’s board also rescinded its promise to owners of sharing an “informational packet” with details about the possible purchase before the meeting. The board delayed the release of the informational package because “proprietary information is now at risk of being released to the media,” the Friday email said.

The Renaissance on Turtle Creek, a complex with two high-rise buildings and over 600 units on 3.7 acres, is visible through the trees on two open lots located along North Hall Street in Dallas on Monday, July 31, 2023. The condominium owners association at The Renaissance on Turtle Creek has made a multi-million dollar offer on the open half-acre it towers over, according to a board member.

If a developer -- and not the COA -- buys the property, a high-rise on the half-acre property could block light, obstruct views and cause condo property values to drop 20 to 25%, according to those who back the COA’s plans to purchase the property.
