Many athletes who are ranked in the top 10 in their events have trouble paying for rent, food, and coaching if they do not have the backing of a sponsor. Timothy Hinchey, the CEO of USA Swimming, made $721,101 during 2018. Brett Harris, the CEO of USA Triathlon, made $413,480. David Raith, the executive director of USA Figure Skating, made $363,036.
